Latin American Quartet, founded in Mexico in 1982 and winner of 2012 Latin Grammy for its album Brasileiro, Works of Francisco Mignone. It has earned, since 2004, important supports of Fonca, as part of Mexico on Stage project. It has played an important role in the training of musicians in Mexico, and its members have been affiliated to different Mexican musical education institutions. It’s also responsible of the Latin American Academy of String Quartets, affiliated to the Venezuelan System of Youth Orchestras.

It was resident quartet of the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA, from 1987 to 2007. It recorded for the next labels: Quindecim, Urtext, Luzam, Naxos, Tonar, Tocatta, Elan, New Albion and Dorian Sono Luminus, for which it registered all the 17 quartets by Villa-Lobos; the Vol. 6 of this collection earned it two Grammy nominations in 2002.
