Cinema, Essay and Chronicle about the Violence in Mexico

The violence of authorities, within different social groups, between individuals, gender violence, political and criminal violence are problems that affect the social coexistence and the development of people. In today’s context, re-reading works by great writers who have explored both violence and its effects as resistance and survival can contribute to a better understanding of current violence and allows us to reflect on different ways of living and facing times of hopelessness. In this workshop, we will examine the expressions of violence, the concepts of justice and injustice and gender representations in The Burning Plain by Juan Rulfo, whose centenary is celebrated this year.
