Many petroglyphs of different ages are placed on nearby rock walls; as well as cave paintings, where schematic men armed with sticks appear, and where hands and other unidentified geometrical symbols are captured. There are also some dotted crosses, as in Teotihuacan, which served for astronomical calculations. Tepeapulco, was a commercial settlement for the distribution of products from Central Highlands to the Gulf Coast and vice versa.
