REVIEW

It was the first and largest Franciscan convent in Mexico City; it was sponsored by Hernán Cortés on 1524. The church, in the state it has today, is the result of a reconstruction made on 1716. Only this church and the Balvanera Chapel remain. The highlights are the Churrigueresque style façade from the 17th century, and the altarpiece in the major altar, a work by Jerónimo Antonio Gil, which was reconstructed during the 1940s.

The church is in service, and allows visits in hours different from the masses. One enters from the lateral door, decorated by a beautiful Baroque façade.
