Museum of Popular Arts in Jalisco

REVIEW

The estate where the Museum of the Popular Arts is located was built at the beginning of the 19th century for housing purpose, following the traditional model of the houses of the state: a central patio, hallways and corridors. Two constructive stages are identified in the building: the ground floor presents neoclassic ornamentation with white of egg influence of the art nouveau; whereas the second one is inserted in the eclectic current of the end of the 19th century. Since 1990 it is part of the patrimonial goods of the Government of the state and in May 2000, the Museum of the Popular Arts was opened as a space to exhibit the works that for their cultural and artistic characteristics are part of the heritage collection of great tradition in Jalisco.
