The Homage Precinct to Don Benito Juárez in the National Palace, was inaugurated on July 18th, 1957, by the President Adolfo Ruiz Cortines. It is located in the same place where Benito Juárez lived his last years as President.
In the Precinct we can see a series of personal items donated by relatives and friends in order to recreate his family environment. Among them there are his family room, his office, and bedroom, in the exact same place where he died on July 18th, 1872.
It has official documents related to his political activity and a library specialized in the Reformation period, the defense of the national sovereignty in face of the French intervention, and the restoration of the Republic. These objects are evidence of his way of being, of acting, and how he faced life in each one of the different moments he went through.
This Homage Precinct to Don Benito Juárez was open to the public between 1957 and 1993, when it had to be closed in order to perform works of re-founding of the northwest wing of the National palace. On the 126th anniversary of the death of Benito Juárez, on 1998, it opened its doors again in its venue in the National Palace.
