At the end of the 17th century, the captain Gabriel de la Barrera founded the dynasty of the family and with it the series of haciendas of benefit of metals that would carry his name: Hacienda de Barrera Grande, de Barrera de En Medio, Hacienda de San Antonio de Barrera, de Dolores and de Sacramento.
