Dr. Carolina Bracco, researcher at the University of Buenos Aires, addressed in her conference a socio-historical analysis of how they built images and social imaginaries on the dancers in the cinematography of Egypt.

Since the arrival of the film industry to the Arab countries, the dancers have had a sustained presence throughout the 20th century, though changing, giving rise to the construction of three stereotypes of dancers in cinema: worker in the 1930s and 1940s; evil in the 1950s and 1960s and marginal the 1970s onwards. As support, we will present fragments of some Egyptian films of the time.
