Death: Heritage, Tradition and Devotion

Death, an undeniable fact of human reality and mandatory reference of the symbolic imagery, individually and collectively, is projected as a multifaceted cultural expression of the way of being and acting -thinking- of the Mexican.

The photographic images by Joel Torres are placed in such a social space where death, more than a representation, is an object icon of worship; it is the visible face of the living heritage of the ways in which we believe and live religion, and that goes beyond the everyday life to become an inherent link to the sacred.
