Oaxaca Children’s Museum (MIO), infrastructure work culminated at the Old Railway Station was opened on March 3rd, 2017.
The old station is part of the cultural heritage of Oaxaca and its historical value lies in the commercial and social importance of the city since the end of the 19th century and the mining boom of the region until the 20th century. The railway set is protected by the Partial Plan of Municipal Conservation and has buildings that are catalogued by the National Institute of Anthropology and History.
With the renovation of this space, children will have exhibition-workshop rooms and galleries designed for the development of learning through artistic, cultural and social disciplines, with a deep sense to preserve the traditions of Oaxaca.
