The building, historical heritage of Huamanta, that houses the museum dates from the 18th century and in the beginning was used as a living quarterly. It was opened as a museum on August 9, 1991 and remodeled in 2001 and 2002, and the museographic concept belongs to maestro Caperman. It shelter and display over 500 puppets made with different techniques, from different times and origin. The Rosete Aranda collection and those from the gold time of the puppet theater, those from the pre-Columbian time, and the ones that come from Asia and Europe are outstanding. The museum has eight permanent halls, one temporary and a library. It organizes guided visits, puppet workshops, concerts, lectures, book presentations, art contests.
