REVIEW

The building that houses the museum was built in 1868 and is part of the Catalogue of Historical Musuems of the mining city of Álamos, declared National Monument by means of a law promulgated on January 29, 1952.

In the beginning it was a house that belonged to the Gómez Lamadrid Family and later as La Paz notions store and as a craftsmanship school in 1980’s. in 1984 the government of the state bought and restored the building to turn it into a museum. Its mission is to confirm among the people of Sonora to be conscious about their identity throughout the history, traditions, the ways and customs. The collection includes a photo collection of Dr. Alfonso Ortiz Tirado about the city and the ecologic reserve of la Sierra.
