The construction began in 1984. On December 14, 1986 this space was declared the official precinct for the Governor Emilio Martinez Manautou 5th Governance Report. It was the Eduardo Terrazas y Asociados architect office who was in charge of the project and were counseled in acoustic issues by the company Artec and the architect Eduardo Saad.
On January 9, 1987 the Amalia González Caballero de Castillo Ledón Theater opened its doors to present the first artistic and cultural event: the opening concert of the Bajio Philharmonic conducted by Maestro Sergio Cardenas. Ten more events of theater, music, dance, literature and an exhibition were part of the Cultural Week.
Since then, the Tamaulipas Cultural Center has presented countless and important artistic and cultural activities that have made it transcend not only in Mexico but abroad.
