A collection created by the painter Rufino Tamayo; he created this important museum in order to make it known. The colors used in the five rooms of the exhibition are tones chosen by the maestro Tamayo, who frequently used them in their pictorial works. The design of the museography was in charge of Fernando Gamboa. It was inaugurated on January 29th, 1974. It has about one thousand pieces that are part of the multiple remains of Mexico’s Pre-Hispanic art.
