Made up by 151 works of modern, contemporary, and popular art, this exhibition aims to be an approach to the expressions of Chinese art, and offers an excellent opportunity to appreciate its artistic manifestations and living traditions that still are a source for the inspiration for the new generations of Chinese artists.

The spirit of coexistence, the frequent search for new horizons and the aperture to the world, have interceded in the new artistic expressions that now are influenced by the Western culture, without diminishing their conceptual and formal qualities.

Gouaches in ink and color, oil paintings, engravings, sculpture, mixed arts, and popular arts, marionettes of shadow theatre of the Qin Dynasty (17th to 20th century), painted on leather and that are still being processed by communities of artisans, as well as cut-out paper, and masks, make up the exhibition.
